The Fantasy Team Projection Tool (FPT) was developed by the RosterSourced team.  It was designed to fill a need for tracking your projected team stats as you are drafting.  Plenty, if not all sites that host fantast baseball or mock drafts will fill in your roster as you are drafting, but they do not show the projected stats for your team.  Our Fantasy Team Projection tool does just that.  Choose the projection system you want to use between our own RosterSourced projections, Steamer, or Steamer600 (courtesy of Dash at Steamerprojections.com), or compare and contrast the different projections.

Multiple Roster Formats

The first thing you should do when using the FPT is choose which type of roster your league or mock draft has.  The default setting is standard NFBC settings of the infield, two catchers, MI, CI, 5 OF, and 1 Util.  You can choose from preset standard rosters in the dropdown box where NFBC is.  The other formats are Yahoo!, ESPN, CBS, and custom.  Most of the positions are customizable, so click on the position you want to change and select a new one from the drop down list.

Set Your Goals

At the bottom of both the batter and pitcher tools there is a “Projection Balances” section.  Figure out your goals for your upcoming season (league leaders from the previous season is a suggestion), and type them into the “League Leaders 2014” row.  This will tell the FPT what to compare your drafted team to.  The difference between your goals and your current team will be displayed and updated as you add players.  As you are drafting, you will be able to tell if your team is becoming unbalanced and figure out which stats to focus on with the rest of your picks.  Or maybe you are trying to get one stat early and another later in the auction/draft.  The Projection Balances will keep your strategy on track.

Load Your Keepers

The Projection Balances are really useful when planning picks or auction budgets for keeper leagues.  Fill in your keepers, and then try different combinations of players until you figure out your optimal lineup.  Find contingencies and alternate options for targeted players.  Do you really need to have Jose Reyes for the amount you have to pay to get him or will Jose Ramirez or Elvis Andrus be ok for less of a cost?  Let the FPT help you make that decision.

Our goal for this tool is for it to be as flexible as the league you are in.  We do not want to restrict position settings or player eligibility.  Any batter can be slotted at any position.  If Carlos Santana has catcher eligibility in your league, go for it.  Please let us know if there are settings you would like us to add/change to meet your needs.  We are working on adding more stat categories and should have Steamer stats other than standard 5x5 soon.  If you like our tool, be sure to pass the word along.
